Dress Code

In order to maintain a high level of professionalism and respect, Texas is enforcing the following dress code for all coaches on the floor at THSGCA meets.  The dress code is as follows:

All coaches shall abide by the current USA Gymnastics recommended dress code at all meets.  This rule includes all participants on the floor at the State Meet (managers, trainers, non-competing athletes, and assistant coaches).  Please dress professionally.  Violators will be removed from the floor.

Proper Dress for Men: 

  • Dress Slacks or “Docker-style” pants – No jeans
  • Collared Shirt or team t-shirt
  • Athletic or dress shoes – No sandals or opened toed shoe
  • Matching Team Warm-up Pants and or Jacket
  • No hats or visors
  • No cargo type shorts or shorts will tears or holes

Proper Dress for Women:  

  • Closed toe athletic shoes
  • Athletic warm-ups or “Docker-style” pants.  (No jeans)
  • Hemmed, finished shorts that are a reasonable, “child-friendly” length (minimum 7” inseam).  “Docker style” shorts recommended,  (No shorts with tears or holes or shortshorts.
  • Collared shirts or t-shirts identifying your team or light business casual shirts.  (No spaghetti straps, low –cut tops, or shirts revealing the midriff.)
  • No hats or visors

Dress Code for Athletes

Proper competition attire must be worn during all competition.  Members of the same team must wear competition attire that is uniform and of the same color.

Boys 

On Pommel Horse, Rings, Parallel Bars, and High Bar all competitors must perform their exercises in long solid colored competition pants and footwear (gymnastics slipper and or socks).  On Floor Exercise and Vault, the gymnast may wear shorts and perform with or without footwear.  The wearing of a competition shirt (jersey) is mandatory in all competition, including warm-up (no bare chest allowed in the gym).
Jewelry shall not be worn, with the exception of Religious or Medical medals that may be worn if taped to the body under the uniform.  Jewelry is considered improper uniform.  Tongue pierced jewelry of any kind cannot be worn.

Girls 

Must wear correct athletic, nontransparent competition attire.  Leotards with narrow shoulder straps are not allowed.  The leg cut of the leotard may not extend above the hipbone (maximum) and must be long sleeve except in compulsory meets or when agreed upon by participating coaches.  The team leotard must be identical.  The wearing of gymnastic slippers is optional.  Jewelry shall not be worn, with the exception of Religious or Medical medals that may be worn if taped to the body under the uniform.  Jewelry is considered improper uniform.  Only a single small stud per ear will be allowed.  Tongue pierced jewelry of any kind cannot be worn.  Exposed bras are not allowed.  Hair devices that are safe and reasonable secured may be worn to keep hair away form the gymnast’s eyes and face.

Awards Ceremony

All athletes must be in full uniform for awards.  No athletes will be recognized or awarded medals if not in proper attire.  Please make every effort to get your athletes ready for the awards ceremony.
